Value
Our sense of self-worth may be one of the most empowering yet crippling things we know of as the human experience.
We want to think of ourselves as, at the very least, competent in life's challenges.
But we want to be 10% better than whatever that assessment is.
And we want to believe our own assessment is too conservative; that is, that others actually view us 20% higher than we view ourselves. And yet, if it is too high, we fall victim to the fear of impostor syndrome.
On the other end of the spectrum, we are worried that our own self-assessment is 10% higher than it should be.
And we are quietly terrified that the people around us view us 20% lower than we view ourselves. Or worse yet, not even worth consideration.
