A random bit of earthly joy from John Piper in "When I Don't Desire God:"

"If you need caffeine to keep you awake in the morning [when you rise early to pray], I will leave that with your conscience. Maybe that's why God created it. Staying awake to pray is certainly a better use of caffeine than staying awake for almost anything else."

Yeah, I'm going with that one.

In fact, I'll argue that if you love espresso, it's a clear sign that you enjoy and are committed to praying even more.
