On the Road Again

This past weekend was a first for our small but growing family. I was about to embark on a very long road trip that would take up multiple days, and our Jewel was to be my travel companion. The two of us had never left my Beloved alone, let alone be on our own for more than a day, so the experience was new and exciting.

For the most part, the trip went off without a hitch. My little one loves loves loves staying in hotel rooms, so she was ecstatic that we had a king size bed to share (she kindly did not demote me to the pullout sofa while she stretched out to recline in the king size bed).

As we drifted off to sleep one night, through closed eyes and a sleepy voice, she reached out her hand under the covers and said, "Let's hold hands tonight while we sleep, papa."

And so we did, papa and little girl, holding hands together, while we dreamed of our travels up and down the country side.
